UPDATE to the review below: Lo & behold, the lines didn't last long, were too stretchy, & I redid them. Even the poly cord I originally tried didn't last in the sun after 1st yr of use. So I went to an army surplus store where I could get nylon/cotton combination cord that was 1/8th inch thickness, & it's been so easy to restring. Cost me $12 & tax for 150 ft. of the cord. The nylon keeps the cotton from just being soaked & stretched from rain & weight of clothes, as well as adds strength overall. It's PERFECT! I still love my umbrella dryer & this one is a lot cheaper than most, lightweight for taking down when I want it out of sight (which isn't often), & will last a lot of years! Pays for itself over & over in dryer costs & electricity as well as lets me out of the house on laundry day--which is really nice!Original Review: Love umbrella dryers! They are so worth having, I use mine even in winter w/ snow on the ground. But this one has some kind of rubbery feeling gray lines that stretch like crazy, & I think will probably not last long before breaking down from the sun. I got a yellow poly rope from walmart, unwound the 3 individual cords that make up the poly rope, & strung a cord thru the umbrella dryer on the outer 4 lines all the way around to strengthen the longer lines that hold more of the weight of drying clothes. I'll see if the original stretchy rubbery lines last as long as the poly rope cords that I put on it. At least the poly cords aren't stretching with the weight of jeans. I still love this dryer tho, even if I have to restring the whole thing. Love how I can stand in one spot & just swing the dryer around as I hang more clothes on it til it's full, or take them off & fold & stack them. A breeze means no wrinkles, so I can hang shirts out on plastic hangers & then straight to the closet! Some people don't do windows, but I don't do ironing! Environmentally green, saves me electricity (dryers are one of the biggest electricity users), doesn't add heat to my house in hot summer like the dryer does, love fresh air drying & getting outside a little bit on laundry day.

We had our first one for eight years before we decided to replace it with this one, both had the same problem - the plastic notch that keeps the lines up is not durable enough for the amount of laundry you can put on it. Broke after about a month of use. So I did the same thing I did with the first one: I drilled a hole through the rod and put a bolt through the hole to keep it up. I expect I'll get another eight years out of it as the rest of the construction is good and sturdy.

I like that it works and I am able to dry my clothes outside once again. It has many different levels that are both good and bad to have, some are so small that they are much use and others end up being so high (those are the ones that have the most area to hang items). Make sure you really measure how far to dig and put into the ground so that you won't have an issue with using. The only really annoying thing is, if you use up one side and rotate it to hang more clothes it keeps moving back to the original position. So you are always having to adjust it to where you want to hang your clothes.

I like its design of the drying area that incrementally raises the height of things as you hang from inside close to the pole to the outside. The air flow is much better than my previous rack that hung everything at the same height. The line tension needs to be tightened and instructions provide for that. Haven’t done it yet but it’s simple. I can pull the whole unit out of the ground to move it out of the way to mow the grass. I accidentally broke my previous rack after years of use and so far this one seems as tough to last.

Here's a long-term review. I bought this in 2010, installed it while my wife was away on a trip. She'd been asking for an outdoor clothesline, preferably one that could be taken down in the winter. We're in California, so our outdoor drying season is 8-9 months. The instructions were clear. I had no experience with cement work, but got the cement poured easily and the ground tube inserted and vertical with no issues. I was a bit worried about the plastic cap that seals it for the winter, but it's still fine after 9 years. Lifting the umbrella can be awkward. It helps to have 2 people. The lines can get tangled a bit too. But that needs to be dealt with only once a year during setup. The rest of the year, it works fine, is a good height. The line rotates as smoothly as ever, and i've never lubed it. It's lightweight, and easy to store for the winter. All in all, one of our most-used purchases from Amazon.

I think this was the cheapest drying clothesline available. It is basic. I bought his to replace a unit I had for about 10 years. This unit is fine for lightweight drying. I followed the directions and installed the line in my backyard. It is very easy to raise up, which I like. The aluminum is thin, so I will not put anything heavy on it. Otherwise it will work just fine for our needs.

I was very pleased with the quality, very spacious for clothes. If the sun is making spend more money in electricity due to AC use, I'm using the sun to dry my clothes :)Takes a couple of hours top to dry a quilt if you put it flat even less time. Easy to out way for strong winds. Get some clothes clips to hold from wind, specially small garments. This item was very affordable compared to others, easy to use. No regrets!!

Purchased this product over a year ago and used it for at least 90% of drying.Dig a hole 4 to 5 feet deep poured some river pebbles and smaller stones on the bottom, then put in chain link fence post to hold it all together and finally poured 7 bags of 80 pound concrete to seal it in the ground (forever). Drill a hole through 6 inches from the top of the post and also through bottom part of the clothes liner post and connected them both with bolt so in a case of strong wind and clothes being on there it does not fly. Also it is hand tightened easy enough to take it down if you leaving the town or something...Whole project cost me under $100, but in the first year alone we hang at least 200 loads of clothes to dry on it and probably saving as much just from not using dryer, so after that it is all gas/electricity = money saving.Also bought pins and bag http://www.amazon.com/Household-essentials-Clothes-Colors-Vary/dp/B0014CP8KU/ref=pd_bxgy_hg_img_zPro's:1. Can't use it on rainy day(whether dryer doesn't care about weather), and you have to check weather channel if you have few loads to do at once.4. When it is raining for few days we tend not to wash clothes so it can add up few loads at once.Not much else to say just that it is part of our life now and we are very happy we made this purchase...
