I love this angled spatula for smoothing buttercream on cakes. It's perfectly aligned so that you don't have to twist your arm to uncomfortable positions, and the spatula part is wide enough for scooping more spread and smoothing it out.Works just as well for left- and right-handed people. This coming from a lefty.

This size is the best if you want to use it to make cupcakes, as you usually find bigger ones very difficult to manage them when you decide to make small cakes or cupcakes.If you are thinking to buy a spatula I would rather choose this one, as you can use for all kind of sizes.
