Neat little timer...shame it arrived broken.The metal part that make the ringing sound had come off and was rattling about inside the plastic case.I was able to fix it back on with some epoxy (easier than wasting time sending it back) but this seems to be a weak point...so be prepared.Designed in Germany, made in China...still, it gives a 3 year guarantee on the box...lets see if it makes it.NB. Moderately loud bell sound and seems to be fairly accurate...worth 4 stars if working.

after two previous attempts, this is the only timer that actually does what it is purported to do. Easy to use can tie a string through it and hang it around one's neck, perfect for timing the cooking on my hob and also the hose in the garden as I keep forgetting

I'm not sure why a device as simple as a mechanical kitchen timer wouldn't work, but this one doesn't. There must be some flaw in the design as it failed to work right out of the box, and there was no visible damage to the timer or the box it came in. So much for German engineering (I checked the label, expecting that it was probably made in China or somewhere thereabouts, but it was actually manufactured in Germany). Hopefully they put more effort into their cars than they do their kitchen timers! I would return it, but return postage would probably cost more than the timer. Based on my experience, I could not recommend this timer.

This was the first time I had to return a product and ask for a refund and I'm not happy about it! But it was either a faulty product, or a defficient design altogether, because the timer went off at first, but not again. So it can't keep my mind off cooking times, which means it can't do the job.

Elderly mother loves this. She finds it easy to use and nice and loud.Tip:- As with nearly all mechanical timers you have to to turn them all the way to maximum time and then back to your desired time when setting.It works really well

This Leifheit kitchen timer is mechanical so you wont need batteries. ITS VERY SIMPLE TO WORK - turn the nob fully round the clock face and then turn it back to the time you want to cook for. The alarm is loud enough in the same room, but take it with you if you move out to another. It fits in a pocket so you wont forget it. The numbers are easy to see and the timer seems fairly robust. If you dont feel ready to graduate to digital try this.

Bought this for my elderly mum. She can't cope with anything more complicated. She uses it to remind her that there's a TV program she wants to watch, and that she should switch channel (!)
